Tell us about your day-to-day role at ServicePoint Solutions
First part of my mornings are usually taken up with stand-ups on my projects. After those meetings are done I usually have a much better understanding of the detail I will be building for the day. Then I start to build, test the functionality, test as the user and document what I’ve done on the ticket. There’s always calls between the team during the day so I will usually spend some time most days either helping someone else or being helped in return.
What are your hopes and dreams for the rest of 2023 and into 2024?
There’s some exciting projects in the pipeline and I’m excited for the new challenges.
What’s it like to work with the ServicePoint Solutions team?
The team here is great, everyone has their strengths and we usually get to play to them. I know if I have a problem I can pop a message in a Slack channel and I’ll have someone offer support pretty rapidly.
What makes ServicePoint Solutions stand out as a company/employer?
Honesty and integrity - first time I have worked for a company that does what it says and says what it does. Team spirit - if one of us has a problem we all have a problem. Support - we all help each other out whether it's supporting each other passing certs or delivering projects.
What inspires or motivates you?
I have to leave things better than I found them.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I love watching live music and I have a very broad (some say weird) taste in music. I never grew up so I still enjoy building Lego but my house is too small to have all the sets I want. I'm an avid reader - fiction and non-fiction. I also enjoy a decent walk with Charlie (my dog). We live in North Wales so we have a lot of options for walking in Snowdonia. And I volunteer at the Abergele District Food Bank.
Tell us a random fact about yourself
I can swim but I really don't like to. If I was drowning there's a 50/50 chance I would just refuse to swim because I hate it so much.
Do you have any hidden talents?
I used to be able to play the first 2 lines of Madonna's 'Material Girl' on the steel drums, having learned this in school in the late 90's. This talent should probably stay hidden.
Favourites (and why)
Film: Alien (1979). Tense sci-fi horror that still holds up nearly 45 years later. Someone else best summed it up: “nobody listens to a clever woman and then everybody except the clever woman and her cat dies”. Jonesy is one of the top 10 cats of all time.
Song: 'Song Away' - Hockey. Lively 2000s indie pop that reminds me of being younger
Animal: My border terrier, Charlie.
Place: We went to Venice on holiday this year and there’s something about that place that fascinates me. Maybe it was the good weather or the Aperol spritz, but to have time in such a unique city was amazing.
Food: A good sandwich is a real treat. Plus they’re portable so you can enjoy one pretty much anywhere.
Salesforce Character: Flo because it’s Spencer’s favourite.
